SOUR CREAM BANANA NUT BREAD

When I was 16, I went to visit my brother and his small family. We made this bread while I was there and I have used this recipe ever since. This is one of my most requested recipes.





Cream: 1-½ cup sugar
¾ cup shortening

Add: 2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup sour cream
2 large ripe bananas, mashed

Mix dry ingredients:
2-½ cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1-½ teaspoon baking powder

Add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Stir just until combined. Fold in ½ cup chopped nuts. Bake at 375 degrees for 50 – 60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Makes 2 loaves.
